Aftercare — what to demand
- Written aftercare schedule (typically included for 2–5 years)
- Free fine-tuning appointments
- Warranty terms: repairs, loss & damage cover
- Clear pricing for batteries/domestic service
Why aftercare decides value
Hearing aids are fitted, then tuned over weeks. Real benefit depends on follow-up: programming adjustments as you adapt, cleaning, tube and dome replacement, and annual retests. A cheaper device with strong included aftercare often beats a dearer one sold bare.
Red flags
Vague “full aftercare” claims without a written schedule; charges for fine-tuning inside the stated inclusion window; no loss-and-damage terms in writing; pressure to decide the same day. Ask for the aftercare sheet before you pay, and keep it with your receipt.
Get everything in writing before paying. If a provider resists itemisation, walk away.
